Emerging Market Information

Dots
Mobile Open Application Development:
On July 10, Apple launched App Store on iTunes, opening a new opportunity to develop and deliver applications to the iPhone. Steve Jobs is predicting $360 million in sales in App Store’s first 6 months.

There are several other recent, prominent examples of this move to the open standard. Nokia purchased the Symbian OS and made it open source, and Google created its open-development mobile operating system, Android. According to mocoNews.net T-Mobile will also open its application platform to allow software developers to create applications for its entire range of mobile phones including existing and future platforms, ranging from Java and Windows Mobile to future Android phones and T-Mobile's Sidekick. Reportedly, T-mobile’s revenue model will be similar to that of Apple’s App Store.

These examples represents the start of an industry shift from closed application development to a new open development standard, lowering the barriers to entry for companies like Seek Mobile Interactive.

Location Based Services
Research suggests that by 2010 25% of all cell phones will have GPS integrated. Imagine a world where you can never get lost, a local guide in your pocket can take you to the favorite restaurants of the locals, find someone to share a cup of joe with similar interests, being able to find solutions at every corner, once dreamed as a science fiction fantasy but now solutions like these and others are being developed by mobile software companies.

Alternate reality games are not new, they have been around since at least the 1980's (remember Gotcha?). Some of these games can be a call in the middle of the night to goto a location where you act the role of a spy, or you may prefer to dress up like gandalf and play paper-rock-scissors to cast a magic spell on your enemy. The games being developed by Seek Mobile Interactive will add another dimension to these games by keeping track of the players state (accomplishments) and by allowing the player to play and interact with people internationally.
